FORTCAST (FORT Collins Atmospheric ScientisTs) is a local chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS). It serves the interests of the atmospheric sciences community of Northern Colorado. The chapter serves as a professional, service, educational, and social organization for individuals with a wide variety of atmospheric science backgrounds.

The chapter is open to faculty, staff, and graduate students in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University, federal and state employees at the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere, National Weather Service employees from the Cheyenne Weather Forecast Office, and interested individuals from the community at large. The FORTCAST Chapter of the AMS will provide a solid foundation for the exchange of ideas and information across this region by holding open forum and inviting speakers from the science community. The chapter seeks to promote and advance the atmospheric sciences through public outreach and will conduct activities in the manner expressed by the parent Society.
